I was going to put this into Mobile Computing, but seeing that this is more Android specific, will ask it here. Forgive me if this was the wrong decision.

I have an Acer Iconia and here of late a lot of the updates for some of my apps are allowing access to my contacts, my camera and allow it to make calls at will. Now I can see that allowing permission to take pictures allows it to activate the flash on my camera, but it specifically states that giving the permission allows video/picture capture per its decision to do so. Screw that. Am I being paranoid? Why can't Android/Google Play allow me to enable/disable specific permissions than require me to accept all of them. It's just stupid... I hate Android.

Nothing to do with the device or Android, it's whoever wrote the applications. If you don't like what the app or updates do, don't accept or install them. Many people don't install applications due to the rights they want.
