Heh, they don't expect to hear from it again... until the Martians take control of it and start sending a countdown signal.

Couldn't they shut it down while storing up small amounts of energy using the panels until it could be powered up again? Or does it not even produce enough power to keep the batteries from freezing?

Someday maybe we'll feel the need to send a MarsLanderLander Probe to discover all we can about went wrong with our little MarsLander Probe and learn about our ancestral space tech. Or maybe we'll send Walle to harvest the little guy for the Smithsonian.

It will be encased in dry ice over the winter, so good luck to it. Otherwise, yes... technically it's programmed to try to phone home if it builds up enough energy via the panels in spring...... don't count on it.

If dry ice does build up on, I doubt it would stay undamaged in the first place. But hey who knows maybe it does survive and sill works.
