Hi! I finally decided to enter the 21st century and purchased a cell phone. It's a Motorola Moto G5 2025.. I found a carrier with excellent rates, I don't intend to use it for anything but a phone, basically. I took some photos, and followed the procedures to transfer them with a USB cable. I don't intend to use it on the internet, but I have connected it to my wifi router. It sets up a directory on the PC, and it has 2 subfolders---DCIM and Pictures. There's nothing in the Pictures folder, and the DCIM folder opens to a Camera folder. I;m using windows 10. I click on the Camera folder and a green bar slowly proceeds across the top of internet explorer, then I get 12 slamted rectangular images that kind of look like a usb plug with a blue cross above the left end that look like cross-hairs. And there is one jpg file. I took 6 photos. When I click on the jpg file I get this error message---An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. error code 0x8007065D. Now I have 3 gift cars from Amazon from last Christmas which I tried to use a few weeks ago. After a nightmare 2 1/2 hours chatting with the techs? , I won't go into the details but the IQ level had to be almost 80, I was finally told to take pictures of the cards, then they could tell if they were genuine. I know they're genuine. I won't deal with amazon gift cards again. I took 2 pictures of each card.I tried another usb port, but no luck. I reconnected and clicked a windows message about what to do with this device and clicked on import photos and videos. I clicked on import and it said We cannot reach this device. What is happening ? How do I transfer the photos? Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I tried tapping the usb charging id on, but nothing happens. I've tried several times and even held it down for several seconds, but oithing happens,

Thanks for the responses. I found info on transferring photos with bluetooth. But I need a file manager as the motorola g5 2025 doesn't seem to have one. I tried an app search but there wasn't a fille manager found. I think I have to set up a google account, which I'm loath to do since I don't trust google. Then something about setting up a gmail account. I think I cam remove the gmail account after I use it---at least I hope so since I don't want to use my data with e-mails. There's something about finding file managers ib the app store. I'm not sure how any of this works. Thanks.

I came across mobile devices in windows 10 settings. I switched on: Allow this PC access to your mobile device, and a screen popped up telling me to sign into my windows account/ What exactly is a windows account? Am I giving to much access to microsoft to my computer? Will this allow me to transfer the photos? Thanks.

On many Motorola phones the USB option won’t switch unless the phone screen is unlocked.
After plugging in the cable, unlock the phone, pull down the notification shade, tap the USB notification, and choose “File Transfer / MTP”.

If that still fails, try:
- A different USB cable (some are charge-only)
- Restarting both the phone and PC
- Using Bluetooth or Motorola’s built-in “Files” app (some models hide it under Settings > Storage)

You do not need a Google account just to transfer files by USB.
