Pioneer Receiver VSX 324 no sound

I can’t get sound on my receiver via speakers I only use it for the radio tuner and to plug my iPod into it’s not hooked up to tv

No sound via speakers. Does that mean if you plug heaphones into it you do get sound? Make sure that you have the speakers turned on.
If the receiver doesn't work with either on the radio then the problem is in the receiver.
