both can run high/ultra settings

get the first one. You won't be running around with ultra settings for that 4gb, but the 950 can drive the superior 1080p screen no problem.

I definitely prefer a 1080p screen for general use because it allows me to see more information on the screen.

The GTX 950m is good enough to play games at 1080p though not all games on high or ultra. However, you can always lower the resolution which will result in a pretty minor decrease in graphic sharpness.

The first 950m with 2 GB may be a faster video card also, the 950m had two versions, a DDR3 and a GDDR5 version. The GDDR5 version uses faster memory but only has 2 GB of memory, which is better than 4 GB of slow memory.
