I would appreciate any help identiftying what is the best option for hooking this Epson projector to a PlayStation 3, and receive sound as well. For the audio will computer speakers work? Thanks for any help in advance. Apologies I just am ignorant in this realm and am doing fifty things and failing to focus on this to comprehend it.

well, two options. i assume of course that the projector is capable of handling the resolutions you need to use with the ps3.

you could use a box like below to convert from hdmi to svideo + rca audio
https://www.amazon.com/Tendak-Composite-Converter-Upscaler-Blue-Ray/dp/B00V2ULFAQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1482512824&sr=8-5&keywords=hdmi+to+svideo+and+audio

the other option would be to use the vga connection on your projector. you could use an adapter like below and just use a 3.5mm to rca adapter for audio
https://www.amazon.com/Tendak-Converter-Adapter-portable-Connector/dp/B01B7CEOVK/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1482513125&sr=8-11&keywords=active+hdmi+to+vga+and+audio

vga is going to give significantly better quality than svideo so i'd certainly use it if possible and if your projector supports above standard definition. its high definition capable while svideo is only standard definition. if you do not like the simple plug on adapter (it needs to be an active adapter to work mind you) you could probably find a box style version (like the first link for svideo) that you can just plug cables into as well.. just look around.

It all works great ! Had to play with audio and video settings on the console as anticipated. But what a cool experience to play on the projector. My opinion may be biased based on I never play games but it's neat.

i use a 40" tv myself for pc and ps3. it certainly is quite a new experience compared to using a monitor.

on the positive side, things are huge which makes for a very interactive feeling. a downside is that sometimes text can be hard to read unless larger and having things too large means for fps gaming everything is not in central vision so reactions are a bit slower.

i certainly enjoy the experience.
