The screen on that Dell is garbage. Blurry, Dim and only covers 67% Adobe sRGB. That's appalling for a modern laptop. Weight is standard for a 15" laptop at 2.2Kg. Battery life is mediocre at 5 hours.

The ASUS has a superb screen. Bright and clear. It covers 122% of Adobe sRGB. It'll be an exceptional choice for photo work. Battery life isn't great at only 3:41. I'd expect...
Do you have any priorities?
- Screen brightness
- Color Accuracy
- Weight
- Battery life
- Keyboard feel

Do you need a DVD drive? They add bulk and/or take room from the battery.

What is your budget and country? Needed for best options.

Preferences:
Lightweight / long battery life and DVD drive
Colour accuracy (I do process my pictures JPEG and Raw) - I am a photography buff.
I adapt to different keyboards -
I am from Montreal, Canada - both these units are sold by Costco and within $150.00 of each other. Budget ~ 1250.00 CAD

I'd expect something better for non GPU tasks. Laptops with discrete graphics often take a battery hit. Seems to have a better quality keyboard. It has a bit more heft at 2.5Kg.

For your interests I'd take the ASUS over the Dell. That screen just is not acceptable. Especially on a laptop that expensive.

The DVD drive really limits choices and kills chances for lightweight plus good battery life. There might be something better with a DVD drive. But it will be hard to find as they are getting phased out. Hardly anyone uses them anymore or use them so rarely that a dedicated drive in a laptop is not acceptable. Since a $20 external will cover their rare needs.

This ASUS Zenbook UX430UA looks excellent.
- i7-8550u
- Bright screen and 129% Adobe sRGB
- Matte screen reducing reflection
- 8:40 battery life
- 16GB RAM
- 512GB SSD (this will make the laptop feel much faster than those others with old hard drives)
- 1.3 Kg
- Keyboard is solid but stiff
