Hi guys, quick question. I'm using a dlink wireless router and it's network reception is bad. It was fantastic before I moved houses but since moving to a ground-floor apartment the network has been really bad. Same case applies to my phone signal. My neighbour on the third floor has a similar router and the network is good. I'd like to know what I should do to fix it, can I fix an external antenna? Or how does it work?

Solution
It could be that there is just too many competing WIFI signals in the apartment building. You might have to switch to 5Ghz WIFI to get decent throughput.

There is an app for android called WIFI Analyzer. It will let you see ALL the WIFI signals and the strengths. You can use it to see if there is any available channel.

If you are unable to change the channel on your router to 5GHz, try messing with the positioning. You want to make sure that there are no walls or metal objects interfering with the signal, and that it is in a central position in your apartment. If none of that works, consider getting an ethernet cable for your computer.
