Popping sound coming from my laptop

My ASUS laptop is a little less than a year old, and just earlier today I opened it up and it was making this really loud popping sound. It's coming from the front right side of my laptop where there is a headphone/microphone plug, an SD card plug, a USB plug, a speaker, and also i little thing with a K inside of a lock (don't know what that is). I also have a disk drive on that side but it is towards the back. I don't really know where to start considering it happens at all times even with only google chrome open. Any help?

I said it's a little less than a year old. I meant open the lid and start it up, not unpackage it. Plus if it was brand new, how would I know it makes a popping sound?
