Portable Gaming Laptop

After loads of research I am still really stuck and confused as to what I should get for my gaming laptop. I will be using it for uni as well as home use meaning that battery life has to be alright to decent.

The current choices I have are Alienware 13 (uses U processor, so I am asuming it will last longer than the HQ), MSI Ghost (However GTX850M), MSI Stealth (17.3inch), MSI Apache Pro (heavier than previous mentioned and Acer Nitro V Black edition.

The links for the laptops are below, and I would really appreciate feedback on what I should get as the Alienware seems to have better cooling (although higher price/lower warranty year) but I am not sure.

As for the alienware, they generally have better cooling as they are more bulkier but they are a lot more expensive. The U processor does mean that it will save battery life but I would not get one if that is a priority as I don't think it will last that long. I would still get the msi I said above and set all the games to med settings so that the battery can have a long lifespan and still have a decent battery life.

I'm not sure if I interpreted what you said wrong but I would want the laptop to last long whilst doing just word processing/wifi surfing off charge and not gaming which I assume you were talking about (sorry if I am mistaken).

Oh, I assumed you wanted to game on this thing, then I would get a laptop which is designed for portability rather than gaming as all the laptops above have a discrete gpu (hence why I assumed gaming). I would look for an ultrabook. Something like the new dell xps 13 (new one).

Oh god my grammar is awful. I will be using this to game but this will be whilst its charging as I'm pretty sure all gaming rigs die within like an hour of a game being started. I just need it off charge to do stuff like word processing/wifi surfing in a business management course etc.

So let me get this correct, you want a gaming laptop that will be used for gaming whilst plugged in and you want it to have good battery life while its not.

This may be difficult as most gaming laptops have discrete gpus which makes its battery life terrible even if its not used for gaming except for thin gaming laptops. The problem with going through this route is their cooling is not as good as a bulky laptop and its lifespan is generally shorter as a result.

This is just a suggestion, get a laptop with an i5 from the broadwell which may be difficult as they were only recently announced and get a gt 840m or slightly better if you needed it. This should be more than enough for you course unless you need an i7 which I doubt you do, should be able to play most games at med and be able to give you a decent battery life when it is unplugged.

Yea thanks bro, I think I'm gonna hold out for a laptop like that as I can;'t seem to find any stylish ones within my price range
