Power retarting problem

Hello,
my laptop compaq nx6110 restarts as soon as its on in 10 sec and it continues, it could be a bios problem? i want to solve it pls

How far into the boot does it go? Does it get to the windows loading screen or not even that far? I don't think it would have anything to do with the bios, but something hardware related. It could be bad memory, a bad hard drive, etc...

I have this same problem, and found it's the laptop lid button.
Just touching it will switch laptop on again...
