Question Power Supply & Cord

Hi everyone:

I'm new here and wasn't sure whether this post should be in general laptops or technical, so hopefully I placed it correctly. If not, please forgive my mistake.

I accidentally left my laptop power supply and cord (or is it called a charger and cord?) at a place that is over a 3 hr. drive away. So I'm looking to buy a new or used one.

My laptop is an Acer. My question is, do I have to buy an Acer power supply and cord? Or can I buy another brand such as Toshiba as long as the plug ends are the same and fit properly? What about volts... must they be exactly the same? Mine is 19 volts, but I found a used one that seems the same except the volts are 18.

Sorry for not knowing the proper technical wording.

Thanks for any answers.

Hi COLGeek:

The model of my laptop is Acer Aspire ES 1, I believe.

I have now found (on fb marketplace) 2 of them.

One says: Toshiba AC Adaptor Model - PA243OU B (and I think it's 18 volt... my laptop is 19v)

The second one I just found after this posting shows: Acer Model - ADP 135KB T, 19 volt.

The Toshiba looks in excellent condition and the seller is asking $15. Whereas the Acer one looks dirty and old but the seller is asking $10.

Thank you for replying to my post and so quickly too!!
