Here are some options:

And also: are the other models , besides those G53JW , G73JW , that are good for video editing and gaming ?

Does the ASUS G73JW-A1 compete with the ALIENWARE m17x ??

If you are comparing the G73 to the base model of the m17x, then yes they are competing against each other. However, the Alienware seems to be around $500 more expensive than the Asus. The Alienware can also be configured with multiple GPUs (SLI and crossfire) so once you go above the base configuration of the M17x they aren't competing any more.

What is the M17x base's configuration specs ? I'm kinda confused on AW website... So , what are they ? So I can personally compare both (;

When you select the M17x off the laptops page and then hit select, you are give two configuration choices: "All Powerful" and "Bleeding Edge". The "Bleeding Edge" with no improvements would be the base model in this situation. It comes with
Core i7-740Qm (1.73ghz quad)
8gb DDR3
NVidia GTX 285M
640gb HDD
and a lowly 1440x900 17'' LCD
For $2299

The base for the G73W-A1:
Core i7-740QM (1.73ghz quad)
8gb DDR3
Single Nvidia GTX 460M
2x 500gb HDDs
Full HD 1920x1080 LCD
Win 7 64-bit
For $1743

The GTX 460M and the 5870 are pretty comparable performance wise. They trade wins depending on the games in question.

I just dont get the overpricing , Alienware has some bloody sexy laptops , but I wont waste precious money on extreme looks. I'm going for the Asus G73JW-A1 , BUT , I need to find one in a retail store in the USA so that I pay about 1400 EUROS which is 1600 DOLLARS (NEW)
