I am having trouble connecting to MSN messenger with my Dell Axim x30. It
always says, "Logon to MSN Messenger Service failed because the password is
incorrect or the logon name does not exist."

I have checked and double checked the logon name and password and it is
correct, because it works from my desktop.

The wireless networking in the PocketPC is working fine, I can surf the
web, check email, access shared folders on the desktop, etc.

Does anyone know what I might be missing?

Thanks in advance,

JimA

Try using the Exchange Instant Messaging, you can do this throgh the settings
option.

I had a similar problem with my x30 that may help. My
error stated something like "...service not started...
try again later..." The problem was the firewall at the
gateway was blocking the port that the x30 use for IM,
even though IM on my desktop worked fine. They must use
different ports.

Thanks for the suggestions on getting the IM to work, still have no luck
with it. I was not able to find the port information in my router logs
that messenger uses.

Don't feel bad. I'm having the same problem. Was able to connect until
about 3 days ago and now I get the same message you do. Looked all over for
a solution and nothing. Can do everything except logon to MSN (messenger or
mobile). What's going on?

Hey James,
Which PPC OS are you running? If you upgraded to PPC2003 and still have the
disk, I have only one thing that I just did that will work to correct the
problem.

1. Roll back the OS to the previous verison.*
2. Install the upgrade.*
3. Un-install and then re-install MSN Messenger update
4. Enjoy.

* go threw the sets after it finishes.

I had PPC 2003 and I remembered that I had the upgrade disk. That all I did
and now I have access to MSN Messenger and Mobile. If there's an easier way
to do it. I have figured it out. Good luck I hope you and fix your
situation.
