Problems booting into safe mode and UBCD4WIN

So I have an Acer Aspire 5536 laptop I bought nearly a year ago and I've pretty much always had problems with this. At first it wouldn't even boot into safe mode, I fixed that by going too Acer's site and flashing my bios. But now when I go into safe mode, after a few minutes, my laptop just randomly shuts down. And when trying to boot into a live cd like UBCD4WIN, after the Windows xp logo screen pops up, the laptop shows a BSOD. Any help?

Very strange. It could be a variety of issues, i.e. bad hard drive, over heating, etc... Do you remember the error code it gives you on the BSOD?
