[citation][nom]theshonen8899[/nom]He's telling Sony to fuck off even though without them he wouldn't have a PS3 to begin with. I really hope I'm not the only one who finds this ironic.[/citation]
So exactly how far could Sony go, since they are the ones, who's created PS3?

They are suing the guy who wasn't really directly involved in anything related to piracy. Heck, piracy was rampant way before his metldr findings (nobody knows how he did it still, however he's mentioned that it was done from OtherOS) even more, his version of CFW allowed homebrew, but not piracy.

So tell me WTF is going on, why is this kid sued, for what, and what does this have to do with California?

I've been boycotting Sony since their DRM fiasco (which is still going on), and haven't bought a Sony product since. If I will really need one, I will get it on eBay from someone who doesn't have to pay Sony a fee for that transaction(not a Sony retailer), but at this moment I can not see what kind of product would have to be a Sony as opposed to any other brand. I've been doing the same with Apple, albeit for different reasons.
Point is, everyone can vote with their wallets and can hurt the corporations where it matters most: their bottom lines.

"He will be paying Sony for the rest of his life."

Highly doubtful. There is no EULA when you purchase hardware and while I don't own a PS3, I don't remember agreeing to a EULA when I started up my Xbox 360. So I'll go out on a limb and say there isn't one for the PS3 when you start it up.

You bought it, you own it, you can do what you want with it. Any information acquired after the legal release of the product can be shared at will.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there just a law passed or a ruling that stated that you can hack you own stuff?

Hes not bad actually. anyways since when is it a crime to tare apart your own shit and put your software on it or in that matter do whatever you want with something you own? Since when is this a crime? even if he broke the EULA if there even is one who cares? the most sony should ever be able to do is deny him support or in the case of a game deny him access to said game. And even then ONLY ONLINE! how can any court in this country even say there is a case here at all for any reason since as far as i can tell he never stole anything! And if he didn't steal anything where is the crime? I must have missed a lot the past 20 years i never knew it was legal to sue somebody for nothing and get something for it. isn't there some sort of law thats suppose to prevent these things like fraudulent lawsuits. Which this is.

Wow, this guy must be into his nerdcore. If you liked his rap but haven't heard of nerdcore then: yes it is a real grnre of hiphop, no it isn't (just) a joke. Why not check out: MC Plus+ or MC Frontalot. - Actually, I think Geohot here could give them a run for their money. Well, if this hacking thing doesn't work out for him, at least he has options!

This is what happens when you stay at home to much playing video games lol. This video is not going to help him at all. Not sure why he did it but he's a dummy for doing it.

Thirty something? Try more like 22-23. I only know cause I went to the same college as him and we were in the same freshman orientation class. I admire his technical skills, but he is extremely arrogant and often comes off as a douche.

Yeah Sony made a very bad choice. I hope they realize that many people bought PS3s solely to run Linux. And when they took away that capability, hackers like Geohot were able to keep that ability, meanwhile keeping their community faithful. He's only good for business. Ironic.

[citation][nom]itchyisvegeta[/nom]For the love of God, keep quiet. Do EVERYTHING it takes to win this case, to defend the freedom of what we own!If I purchase a piece of equipment, I have the right to do what ever I want to it. Even taking it apart.[/citation]

Yeah, but here's the typical mentality of people who can't respect boundaries set by companies trying to maintain quality and security standards-

No wonder Sony's going all out to stop them.

Who here thinks they all have the best of intentions when running those cracks, really...

I can understand hacking something when the company's doing something that harms the end user, but correct me if I'm wrong that Linux support disappeared from the PS3 after it was hacked, just as all measures taken to increase security were the result of someone doing something that jeopardized it for everyone.
