Wow. Not bad, although it was surely practiced quite a bit.

Nice job, and very idealistic about standing up for what you believe in and all that, but I don't think that Sony would be afraid to show that in the courtroom. That kind of vulgar retaliation is typically looked down upon in the legal process, I think.

He's telling Sony to fuck off even though without them he wouldn't have a PS3 to begin with. I really hope I'm not the only one who finds this ironic.

I'm embarrassed for this young man. I'm sure his IQ is through the F^^^^^^ roof, but he needs to take some advice from someone with a calm mature 'big' picture of his situation. Why possibly get a criminal record or huge impossible monetary judgment against himself, for hobby hacking.

I'm highly doubtful his making this rap will make much difference either way in his court case. I can't believe some people's only reaction to this is a critique of his rapping skillz yo...too funny. He's calling out Sony for being the huge corporate bully that it is he's obviously confident enough in his position to tell them to ah heck off... his making this video is no less ridiculous than some of the thing's Sony is claiming in their suit against him.

Keeping quiet is no good now as he's already in the middle of lawsuit. Just like when they updated the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to allow iPhone owners to legally jailbreak their phones; his court case will affect MANY MANY people by means of setting a precedent for future suits against all console modders....both legit homebrew users and game pirates alike.

I don't get what the big deal with unlocking consoles for using homebrew apps and other non-pirating applications is. Far too many people see console modding as purely for pirating games when it is much more about unlocking the true potential of a piece of hardware you've purchased. One of the main reasons Geohot made his latest hack for the PS3 was to allow users to run Linux on their PS3's again. A feature which was a main selling point for some folks at the time of release........ until Sony took away that feature in a firmware update forced down their throats.

Besides, Sony should really be focusing on their own defense in the suit LG has against them or the International Trade Commission could very well halt all PS3 sales in the USA until they settle the case.

This is great. If this guy really is the hacker then I am proud of him, he may be captaining a sinking ship I don't know or really care, but hopefully this will excite and inspire many more young hackers and crackers in the future. I personally don't like the rap music, but I think it is what the young people are into; God made many stations on the Radio I always say! Or he could have made a porn I guess but then it couldn't be shown on toms so hurrah to Geohot!
He absolutely will not be paying sony for the rest of his life imho.

let me put forth a few legitimate reasons to hack the ps3.

a better web browser, ps3 hardware and THAT is the best we can get? my old p2 333mhz ran the internet better than that.

video codecs. there are allot of videos out there, and the best encodes for said videos will not work on the ps3, at least as of the last time i cared to check.

the over whelming power of the ps3 alone. a home brew (lol yea homebrew, but im being serious when say that) could open it up to people who never even knew about them. imagine this. what if sony came out and allowed homebrew to some extent, instead of forcing their psn network (i hate the way its setup and functions) and allows people to put what ever they want on the console. hell even a minecraft like game where you pay for it would be a run away success for them.

jailbreaking it can lead to pirateing, but saying because of they you take away all functionality is a dangerous thing.

I don't see it as a bad move on Geohot part. Yes Sony will use this against him in court, but hey who cares. The more people that know how F.U. Sony has been the better. This needs to run it's course with the courts. It's the only way us owners will get our hardware back.
I want the features that Sony sold to me and I paid for back. And if for some reason Geohot loses in court then I would gladly send him money under the table so he won't ever have to pay Sony a dime.

For the love of God, keep quiet. Do EVERYTHING it takes to win this case, to defend the freedom of what we own!

If I purchase a piece of equipment, I have the right to do what ever I want to it. Even taking it apart.

People don't go to jail for hacking their PS3, they get slapped with enormous fines. I'd say our school system is more "fukt up" than our legal system. Those lawyers went to college. Anyways, if he loses and knows he doesn't have the means to pay, essentially ruining his life, the legal system also has a little trick for him, it's called bankruptcy and then he won't owe Sony shit.
