I am an existing Cingular customer with two phones..two separate plans.
My wife's contract expired Dec of 2002. She is in need of a new phone. I
have probably spent enought money with Cingular to pay several house
notes if you know what I mean.. It doesn't matter to Cingular tho or any
other carrier for that matter-just keep paying for new phones-upgrade
fees-etc.. I am planning on ordering new service (via intelenet.com) and
a new (free after rebates) phone. I will then cancel my wife's existing
line and she will have a new phone and a new number. It is a shame I
have to jump throught hoops like this to avoid paying for a new phone
but it seems all the carriers treat their new customers better than the
ones they have had for years.. your thots?

Ebay. Really. I just purchased a brand new Motorola T720 from ebay for
half of what Cingular would have charged me for an upgrade. I didn't have
to do it at all, I had a perfectly good Nokia 3595, but I wanted a T720 like
my wife uses. No regrets. It was as simple as changing the SIM card . . .
DONE! It seems silly to ditch your carrier just to get a new phone. If
you've found the Cingular service to be acceptable, why not just get a new
phone off ebay? -Dave

I've been with CW since early 2001. My initial phone (Free) was a cheap,
bottom of the line SE and I had a $39.99 FamilyTalk 400 plan with 400
peak minutes and 3500 N&W minutes and each extra phone was an additional
$19.95 per month. When CW ran a promotional featuring the Moto T720 (Buy
one for $50 after rebates and get the second one free.) I signed a new
contract to get the upgrade. Now I have the same $39.99 monthly fee, but
a new FamilySuperhome 600R plan that gives me 600 peak plus rollover
(They gave me 600 bonus rollover minutes to start). I got two Moto T720
phones (The CS rep even did away with the rebates and $50 initial phone
cost) with 5000 N&W minutes and each additional phone is 9.95 per month.
My daughter's Moto T720 was stolen after a couple of months and the
wireless insurance replaced it and all accessories (Deluxe leather case,
earbud, charger, manual, etc. at no cost to me at all.) They replaced it
immediately, in the CW store no questions asked. I was totally satisfied
and surprised at the EXCELLENT service and support. Cingular CS has
always responded immediately and appropriately with every problem I've
encountered. I'd say that they've taken care of this long term customer
very good, even above and beyond my expectations. I know that CS varies
from district to district, but I couldn't be happier with my service or
phones. Sorry that you've had such a bad experience.

I agree totally. They also refuse to replace a phone that isn't working. I
left Cingular for that reason.
