I'm getting my first good camera (Fujifilm X-T10) and I'm on a bit of a budget. I was wondering whether people recommend I get and XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 zoom lens, or a prime lens with a larger aperture range for a similar price?
Thank you very much for all your help!

If your primary use is to take pics indoors or at parties, then the zoom lens would be the choice. This applies to landscapes too.

Generally, prime lenses are sharper and better in performance.

This info should help you make the right decision.

As @Ubrales implied, what you take pictures of determines what kind of lens you want. Do you need to take low light pictures without flash? Then a single length lens with a larger aperture is better. Do you want to do sports photography? Again, larger aperture is better because you can trade shutter speed for f-Stops.

Since that body has a APS-C sensor, a 50mm full frame equivalent would be around 35mm focal length. A 50mm lens on that body would be a portrait lens.
