Question on keeping lenses.

I have a pair of Sigma lenses on my Minolta Maxxum STsi. One is a 70-300mm
DL Macro Super (1:4-5.6), the other is a 28-80mm Sigma Zoom Macro
(1:3.5-5.6).

Yes, I am a small-time hobbiest with a limited knowledge base on the
specifics of his equipment. I have also been very happy with the photos I've
taken.

My question is when I start shopping for a digital SLR later this year, or
early next year, which bodies should I be looking at if I want to continue
to use my lenses? Will the Maxxum 7D work with these lenses? If not, will
another body work with them? Or am I pretty much boned and have to replace
them?

I'm pretty sure the lenses will work with the 7D but afaik that is
the only Minolta DSLR so there is no other digital you can use them
with.

If they are Maxxum comaptible (as the STsi), then they will work on the
Maxxum 7D. As you probably already know there is a crop factor making
your lenses 'zoom in' by 1.5x (as if your 28-80 were a 42-120).

They haven't announced further models as yet. I would bet on either a
lower end model akin to the Maxxum 5 without Anti-shake and a more
plastic body, or a higher end model with 8 to 11 Mpix resolution.

Yeah, after flipping through the backlog of posts for an hour I found that
little nugget of info. So I might have to end up getting a new lens anyway,
something with a wider angle lens.

Yep, depends on your shooting, but always nice to have something at the
wider end. The Minolta 17-35 is very expensive, however Tamron makes
the new wide angle lens for KM, the 17-35 f/2.8-4.0 which appears to be
nifty, yet more afordable ($817) v. the Minolta 17-35 which is $1350.

Tamron also have a 19-35 for about $340.

Sigma have a variety of wide zooms as well. Just be careful to select
the better ones.
