If I unlock the 6950 to a 6970.. is it stable and safe?

Yes. No.

Either one of those could be the right answer. AMD locked them for a reason, so it might unlock fine or it might not. Also remember that most new 6950s don't unlock at all. Do your research first!

From what I understand, if it has a dual-bios switch, it may be stable and if not it will still be safe. If it does not have a dual-bios switch, it probably won't be stable and will probably not be safe if it doesn't unlock properly (ie. you'll brick it).

Antec, Corsair, Enermax, Seasonic, and XFX. Look to those five.
