Beat me to it, above 8GB of RAM you will see no advantage at all. Even 6GB of RAM would be fine.

Have two sticks of 4GB of RAM, will enable you to have the full bandwidth of dual channel RAM, no current mobile processors I believe support Quad Channel.

1866Mhz RAM is unsupported by your laptop, so it will function at 1600Mhz anyways.

8GB 1600mhz is the best bang for your buck. You are unlikely to use more than 8GB and the speed difference will not be seen.

(All mobile chips use dual channel but can have two sticks per channel).

16gb of either speed.

I am running a the exact same, P150EM laptop.

I have a ton of browsers opened at once (No media but text - but 40-100 brwoser tabs at once open) and after a fresh boot, just opening my browser I am sitting at 5.5 GB gone. Gaming is not a likely option if you are limiting yourself to 8GB.

RAM is the one thing we can never have enough of. I run VMs on the fly on my laptop so I need minimum 16-32 gb.

Wow so many comments in less then 5 mins!!! Thanks guys. So may I sum up what you guys said.

Quad vs Dual ch. - No mobile CPU runs quad ch, so the 3630 I chose only runs on Dual ch for ram.
1600 vs 1866 - the 3630 DOES NOT support anything higher than 1600.
8gb vs 16gb - If solely on gaming 6gb is more than enough. But if need to multitask then should go with 16gb.

You will feel the difference when 8GB is gone and you have to wait to Alt+Tab to your other browser. Unless you are a light user then you'll be fine.

For the love of GOD don't listen to this guy.

He claims YOU need more RAM for gaming, because he runs MULTIPLE VMS and has over 100 browser tabs always open.

I have a Lenovo Y570 with 8GB of RAM, and now and then I hook it up to two external monitors. I might have an both an MMO + a FPS such as BF3 open, along with 10-20 browser tabs. (This is MAXIMUM stress I've put it under before)

And I've still never even passed 6GB of RAM used. I also have my Pagefile DISABLED.

8GB of 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM is more than sufficient for all but....THAT guy apparently.
Hell, if you do somehow manage to find it lacking, you still have two slots anyways. So regardless you should get 2x4GB.

Why do you have to bring in god... Have you ever played a game with browsers open concurrently? You will run out of RAM. No way getting around that.

Or is that too much for you to comprehend? Dual monitor requires very very little amount of system RAM. That is more dependent on the GFX card.

With the browsers open I have 5.5 GiB gone. The game takes 3 GiB. Go back to elementary school then respond.

Thank you guys for your advice, I think you guys both have your points so I will get 8gb and if they offer 16gb for a few bucks more I will take that,
