Re-install after a crash on HP Compaq Presario

After my partitions got corrupted I had to take my computer to a repair shop. I had copied a lot of my files to an external drive, this included a folder HP. Can I re-install from this folder to return it to factory settings? I cannot get access to the recovery partition any more.

It should be a recovery partition, not just a folder.
