Hello I have a Realistic sta-235b receiver and everything works great except when I try to turn it off it stays on and I have to unplug it?? Can anyone advise? I have limited knowledge of these and I don't want to damage anything. thx in advance
On that receiver the on off switch seems to be part of the speaker selector switch which makes repairing it impossible. A good tech might be able to fix the switch but you would be taking a chance paying him to try.
I would suggest you use an external device to turn it on and off. http/www.amazon.com/Leviton-5410-Appliance-Feed-Through-3A-125V/dp/B000FPANMK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1461088875&sr=8-5&keywords=ac+extension+cord+with+switch

Much cheaper and will work fine. Old receivers don't have any circuits that need to be kept on standby.
