recalling Error messages

Can you recall error messages after shut down? A message 'Pops up' just as my laptop turns off. It's never up long enough to read it.

Only if it goes into the event log. Do you know how to check the event log?

As silly as this sounds, using video capture equipment will capture the message for you. You can borrow some, or set up a video camera pointed at your screen.

Thanks for the help and camera idea! Could you please tell me how to check the event log. Have done it once before but on a significantly older version of windows.

Press Win+X to bring up the ‘Power Task Menu’. From the options displayed, select ‘Event Viewer’.
