I would like to stress that a solid stabile & reliable laptop is what is being looked for. Weight doesn't matter but again, it shouldn't overheat when being used for a few hours at a time.

Graphics card is not needed but we understand that it is hard not to get one these days.

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

Both systems DSzymborski linked to have slow CPUs compared to the FX504 system just an FYI.. (I have at my place of work over 20 different asus laptops and never had any real issues with any of them.. also have a couple at home as well) one reason I like their stuff other then I always have good luck with them.. they have a 1 year accidental warranty. the last Dell laptop I purchased (last year) I had to send back as it kept over heating.. I got a cheap acer to replace it for my kids.

As such for Black Friday the Acer Nitro 5s are on sale at bestbuy.com

Honestly, if you're sure you're not playing games, I'd *prefer* to not have a discrete GPU.

Did you have any interest in a two-in-one? I don't game on my laptops (I work from home except when I'm at baseball games or conference, so if I have the time to game, I have access to an actual gaming rigs) and do a lot of heavy-duty work on them and have found that form factor to be way more useful than I expected it to be.

(one with ssd and one with a hdd) both would be good ones.. then if you decide you need more ram you can add more later as both come with 8GB of ram.. and are well under your price range but are still nice ones. just the slower 8th gen CPUs from intel. There is also a amd version but that one is more expensive and slower being its not on sale.
