Recording HD from multiple sources

I've just moved into the HD world. How do I record
HD content from any type of source (ie Comcast
Cable HD, DirectTV, or VOOM)? D-VHS?

I'm currently getting HD from Comcast cable using a
motorola decoder (I can't find the model number on
the motorola). I may change my source to Voom or
another type of source. I like the TIVO HD
concept, but it seems to be married to the source
technology.

I would prefer the flexibility of recording to a
PC. Is there a way to take decoded HD component
video and related Dolby 5.1 audio and record to a
PC harddrive?

NOPE! The only possible way to get HD material to a PC is through firewire.

look at www.169time.com for info.

Check the bottom of the unit for model number/name. That's where I found
mine. Hollywood doesn't want you to be able to record HD content. You can
use the coax out of a Motorola 5100 to send to another TV or VCR. My 5100
also has a second set of audio out that can be used with s-video but these
will not give you HD out. This box also has DVI connectors but many have
reported that the local cableco often does not upgrade the software to
activate it.

YMMV
