I am using different scart lead for my matsui vcr VN 9720 .there are 8 pins on my scart lead instead of 21. Will remote control of vcr work . Please tell me.

The connection to the TV has nothing to do with what channel you select, you select the channel using the turner on the VCR or cable box. A VCR set to channel 3 should record whatever input it gets from the cable box.
