Recover missing files

I had this app on my phone n had saved several photos n documents. But since its been a year, my phone has been hanging so decided to reset the phone after doing back up. But after resetting I have all my data of all other apps except audio manager. Is there a way to recover all my files? I really need them back.

Where were the files stored? Inside the app storage space? Contacting the app maker would be the first step.
