Hi

Is there a way to get data off a hard drive after it's been formatted? If so, HOW? THX

Assuming a DOS/FAT disk...

Not with any standard tools that I know of.

If the drive was quick formatted, ie "FORMAT C: /Q" then only the FAT (File Allocation Table) has been rewritten, all file data is still present. There are tools which can recover at least some data from this situation, all the ones I've tried haven't been too successful though.

There are data recovery services that can help, if you're prepared to pay for it.

Yup, with those file recovery services... you'll find yourself paying big-time money.

And they'll see all the digital pics of the neighbor girl in the shower for free, too :)

That's a good idea. Maybe I should start a data recovery business :)

Hi,
Theres a utility called "lost & found" by powerquest, I heard they no longer make it but it works, I fdisked and formatted a partition by mistake and got most of my stuff back, you do need a seperate hard drive though (not just a seperate partition), if you have trouble getting hold of it, I can provide a link but I'd best do it by mail- calv@fuckyou.co.uk
