Hello, I have a problem with my laptop. When its connected via vga to a monitor it works fine but when I connect it via hdmi-dvi cable the screen goes red and with some line like its broken. The cable is not the problem I tried it on a PC, the monitor is not the problem I connected at other PC, the drivers aren't the problem they are all up to date including intel hd graphics 4600. I don't know what to do
This is a double post I opened one in monitor section because I didn't know its a laptop tech support section(sorry!)

Since you ruled out everything else, the issue looks to be with the HDMI port on the system. Did you try a direct HDMI to HDMI connection?
You can check for a BIOS update, and did you check for drivers for the system from the laptop vendor support site or just through the Windows option to check for drivers? If you did not get the drivers from the laptop vendor, head to their support site and download the drivers there. Chipset, BIOS and Video.

I was afraid that is a hdmi port problem..i have to send it to the service, damn!
Bios update I didn't look for because I am scared to do it :)) never done it before.
I go the intel hd from intel website, and the NVidia 850m drivers from their website so that should not be a problem

You want to use the drivers provided by the laptop vendor not by the maker of the chips. If you read the details, they will tell you that if it may work but are not supported for laptops if you use the reference drivers.

I still don't think its a driver problem, its almoast impsobile I say that from them the hdmi port wont work. If I do what u say I wont be able to play anything because the laptop drivers are preistoricold In some cases. I use the hdmi port on windows 8 some time ago and worked fine, now I have w10 and its red

Did you check hdmi to hdmi connection without the hdmi to dvi adapter?

You also did not say anything about this working fine before and that you upgraded to Windows 10. Did it stop working soon as you installed 10? Leaving out any details about the issue and when it started makes it very difficult to sort out the issue.
