I'm looking at buying a new MSI GS70 Stealth Pro to replace my GT70 Dominator, which is way too heavy and thick for my tastes. I stumbled upon a refurbished one on Amazon for $1299, which is $400 off the normal price of $1699. The specs are: GTX 970M 3GB, i7-4710HQ, 12GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 1TB 7200RPM HDD, 17.3 1080p panel.

The seller has lots of ratings, and people say the refurbished laptops look and act like new. However, the warranty is only 90 days. Does anyone have experience with MSI factory refurbished laptops?

Here is a link to the laptop: http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GS70-Stealth-Pro-065-17-3-Inch/dp/B00O6G7MO6/

Does anyone know how hot this laptop actually gets? I don't keep it on my lap, so the heat shouldn't be a problem, but I don't want it to spontaneously combust...

Thanks!

I see 6 month warranty. I know there were thermal problems with the GS60 Ghost Pro with the GTX 870/880m gpu's. But the heat problems went away (according to reviews) when the 970/980m chips came out because of the lower TDP. I would imagine the GTX 970/980m series would run even cooler in the larger chassis of the GS70.
