Hyperthread, always. The clock of the CPU isn't what determines performance overall.

the G1840 is a desktop, i3 6100U is for laptop.
The G1840 might actually be faster because it have higher TDP

The i3 6100u is a 'newer' Skylake with 2 cores, 4 threads, WHEREAS the G1840 is a 2 core, 2 thread system of the Haswell architecture. Any current gen i3 (16xx or 17xx) would pretty much curbstomp a Celeron, unless said Celeron were OC'd. Hell, even PENTIUMS make jerky out of Celerons, current or no,
