I'm going to buy a DVD player soon and i was wondering if i would be able to remove the region codes from a non-multi-region DVD player. Is it risky?

then what do you suggest I do to play foreign DVDs?
Are there legal multi-DVD players (hopefully name-brand)?

Some of the older Apex dvd players could easily be software modded to be region free. I think they were model AD-1100W or something.

My little brother and I bought an 1010W or something thinking it was the 1100, but I was mistaken. We were kinda angry, but one can't be pissed to long at a $64 dvd player, heh

It's all good ^_^

For a decent region code hack web site go here: http://www.dvdcodes.co.uk/

To the gent who states changing region codes is illegal, this is unfounded. Illegal implies breaking the law. I can only assume he referes to copyright law. If you legally own the DVD from another region, there's nothing wrong with modifying hardware/software in your DVD player to view what you legally own. No copyright issues.
