replace toshiba laptop DVD with HDMI connection

I have a Toshiba Laptop with a DVD drive that I never use. The laptop does not have HDMI , so I connect the TV using VGA. Can I replace the dvd with an HDMI port so I can use it for connecting to TV instead of VGA?

Not possible I'm afraid, there is no component or part available with which to achieve that on a laptop, not in place of the optical drive,

Just make sure your system has USB 3, I would not use a video card on a USB 2 port, too little bandwidth.
