Replacing Celeron w/ Core Duo T2050

I have a HP dv1710us. I replaced the Celeron M 410 processor with an Core Duo T2050. They are the same socket type and HP claims that the board supports the T2050, but when I boot the lights on the keyboard come on and the CPU fans spins for a second but then nothing happens. Any suggestions?

With the old CPU installed, make sure you have the most current BIOS installed. That way you are sure the new CPU will be recognized (if it isn't damaged/defective).

Then install the new CPU, reattached the heatsink/fan assembly and fire it back up.

If the CPU is okay and the BIOS recognizes it, you are good to go. If not, you may have a dud T2050.
