I have a SS that is getting the HD 'clunk' a lot lately, three ~ four times a
day. The drive is getting ready to die.

Is there any way possible to use the output from the SS to my Dishnetwork 501
PVR in manual record mode
in order to preserve the shows I already have recorded on the SS?

I have another larger drive ready to go back into the SS when needed.

You can always connect outputs to inputs to copy shows (however that
Dish PVR probably doesn't have an inputs, those are limited that way).
You could copy to VCR then.

There's always RTVPatch to copy the drive to the new one. There's an
option to copy the shows (copy MPEG partition in the NT version).

Only has antenna inputs......

Don't want VCR tapes. Rather have the progs on DVD if I have to.

It's a SS 2000 - I thought there was a problem with the older units copying
files
to new drives on the SS's

Thanks,

Yes, those (satellite or cable DVRs) are really limited.
