Report: China Is Ready for Cyberwar

Compared to what China will do when it decides it's time to get rid of the US (oil, financial competition, territorial dominance, etc), Pearl Harbor and 911 will be love taps.

Mega virus infections of US defense and financial networks to steal data and to scramble defense systems and shut down nuclear hardened systems (especially anti-missile defense) and then a series of well placed nuclear explosions above the US territory that wipe out our entire electronic communication and power system grid.

We won't be able to launch back at them, our military will just be sitting on the ground like lumps of metal, and it will take years to fix the electrical grid and sort thru the mess of the financial system. No ATM work. No banks can open. If it happens in winter hundreds of thousands - maybe millions - will freeze in the dark. No one can buy food and the government won't even be able to lift a finger to distribute aid as it is completely without communications and most vehicles.

They may never even invade. The resultant chaos would have the survivors fighting each other for survival and resources (in conditions not dissimilar from those in Afghanistan under the Taliban) for decades. If anyone does come it will likely be from South America thru Cuba and Mexico.

This is a frigntening possibility. In this age of information There has never been so much prosimse and peril for the USA. Just because we have enjoyed the blessings of God in this country for so long, dont assume that it will always be this way. We could easily lose it all. Pray for The USA.

"Little evidence exists" "limited cases of apparent collaboration" "report finally concludes that China may be using its 'maturing computer network exploitation capability'" Newsflash for Northrop Grumman analysts, China is doing it and so is the US and every freakin countries with any capabilities in this world. Stop freakin wasting tax payers’ money and do something useful. In other news the sun will go supernova in 2 billion years.

Gentlemen, start your fire walls. and Waynnepalmer, relax man what you have guessed at isn't impossible, but nearly so. Regardless of the possibility, it's undoubtedly highly unlikely.

My guess, and this is indeed a GUESS is that when Chinese hack the United States they are looking for secrets obviously, as well as checking the security. They don't want our nukes to fall in the wrong hands.

Also, governments seek power by the use of sticks, this would be a stick. And a big stick. However, the actual use of cyber warfare waged against the United States is unlikely. US and China are on the UN security council. And we are tied so tightly internationally that war would be very unlikely. No side would commit to fighting when the sanctions and backlash from the international community would be so drastic.

There would be no back lash from the International community. If Europe decided to get involved they would be pushed aside by china like everyone else. IF china every decided to go to war with the us it would be a very calculated decision and they would have allies mainly in Russia, who could with out the U.S. intervening, would wipe the floor of western Europe.

Yes we would be able to launch back for sure, nuclear subs. We have military all over the world as well.

haha, lets send the chinese mass emails offering weapons of mass destruction and critical U.S goverment informations

we just need:
1. FULL NAME
2. PHONE AND FAX NUMBER
3. $200 dollars to have the icbms and information wired
4. YOUR AGE AND CURRENT OCCUPATION
5. A COPY OF YOUR IDENTIFICATION

this is a deal right, i bet even kim over there in north korea might fall for it, $200 dollars for icbms thats a steal :)

So true. Besides, who do you think is gonna employ half of their workforce if Walmart is nuked? We owe them so much money anyway. If they fry our grid and then nuke us like the doomsayers prophecy, our great-great-grandchildren won't be able to slave around to pay back our debt to them.

So, the USA hacked China to find out that China had been hacking the USA.
OMG, are the US security services THAT slow to realise that everyone spys on eachother?
You'd have thought the coldwar never happened!

Enough scaremongering for crying out loud. There's a wee bit too much hate in the world as is!

You have everthing made in China, because it is cost less, then you wonder why we have no jobs in the US and back doors exist in hardware and software. WTF!

Not sure if you realize this, but the US has already essentially told the UN it is powerless over it once and went to war despite it's opposition. Don't think another emerging superpower wouldn't do the same.

China will never be a great country until it starts coming up with its own ideas and stops leeching off others' patents. But that won't happen until there's a free flow of information and that is not allowed because the communist government restricts all forms of communications. So they'll be stuck making cheap plastic toys and manufacturing products designed by western firms until they allow freedom for their people.

I'm a bit less afraid of China's network hacking ability and more afraid they might simply stand up and start walking in our direction all of them at the same time. "We're going to stop by on Thursday to collect the money you owe us, okay?"
