People, I have to say I'm skeptical of most things. HOWEVER, GOTO BEST BUY AND TRY THE PANASONIC AND SAMSUNG DEMO'S. I don't even get very excited by Samsung, but, try both. I put the glasses on with my usual 'alright, lets see what people are overreacting about now'. My feeling about the vastly increased depth perception, particularly on the Plasma, is that it is very nice. The RealD glasses are practically non existent, they do a great job of 'not' being there. And, the effect of 3D is only on the screen, and the rate REALLY is so fast that it doesn't mess with you if you want to walk away and get snacks without turning them off. No, I'm a changed skeptic. I also think that it's a tossup. The 120/240hz stuff is nice as is the 600hz raw speed/unenhanced plasma. I would say I need to see SONY's demo, as their new Bravia Engine seems to be FLAWLESS on most fast footage when doing the frame guestimation.
But, DEPTH went to the Panasonic Plasma due to having 6x the onscreen color rendering and 6x the true native contrast.
As to the 120hz tv's taking a 3D signal, I think it requires a 120hz INPUT signal from a 3D Bluray player. It makes me wonder what is happening with the PS3. Even as a Home Theater tech myself, I'm confused on some of what is going on. I KNEW Mitsu was going to get screwed with their format, but 3D is more confusing than Bluray ever was.
