Hello,
I need a laptop for my job, it is to run a dedicated program called showmagic which allows me to pre programme lighting chases via DMX, midi messages for peripheral outboard gear and .wma files for the audio, all low workload I am sure but I also need to run video files through windows media player (again handled by showmagic) files ranging from 300mb to around 650mb.
My present laptop has INTEL® Core 2 Duo T9400 (2 X 2.53GHz) 1066MHz FSB/6MB L2 Cache
Memory (RAM) 4GB CORSAIR XMS2 800MHz (2x2GB)
Graphics Card 512MB GEFORCE 9600GT + HDMI + D-SUB
Memory - 1st Hard Disk 320GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7,200rpm) onboard and it sometimes hangs momentarily on the video and looks amateurish.
I have been looking at this laptop..Base Inspiron 17R- N7010 Laptop
Operating System Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
Processor Intel i5-480M Processor (2.66 GHz) Mobile CPU
Hard Disk Drive Hard Drive : 750GB Serial ATA (7200RPM)
Memory 4 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz (2 DIMMs)
Media Bay Optical Drive : 8X DVD+/-RW Drive

Video 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
and need to know if in your opinion this should solve my problem.
Sorry to be long winded but rather too much info than too little I think. Oh by the way there is nothing else apart from media player running in the background while showmagic is running.
