Ron Jeremy: Games Worse for Kids Than Porn

I read the title and soon thought "the Hedgehog strikes again!" and wondered what pic they would have of him, then the irony set in that "the hedgehog" is wearing a Mario costume. IMO MTV has a more destructive influence on children than games or porn.

 WHAT?

Are they saying that We'll go Blind if we Play Too Many Games NOW!? 😱

Reminds me of the the 1977 movie Can I Do it 'till I Need Glasses 😀

Scratching my head and wondering what's going on.

Personally I like the NFL approach - 60 minutes of outdoor play everyday. The kids need to exercise. Sitting in front of a pc won't cut it.

[citation][nom]sunflier[/nom]I would rather my kids get on a "HEAD SHOT" on a virtual player than get off on internet porn.[/citation]

Head shots are a major part of porn as well.

Jeremy clarified, "We don't want kids to watch porn," he told the crowd, and added that there are far worse influences out there on kids than watching porn.

hehehehe

Some games are very good for kids, and adults to play. The relatively mindless first person shooters still stimulate the brain more than watching TV does. The strategy games involve an enormous amount of thought to win at the higher settings, and that's a good thing.

It's easy to criticize games, but, in reality, I don't know that it is always the substitute for more active endeavors. It probably replaces a lot of TV watching, which is very mind numbing and does not stimulate the brain in a meaningful way.

Active thought is very good. Passive interpretation not nearly as much. Porn? I certainly have nothing against it, but I don't know how you can say definitively violent games are better or worse than it. How do you measure this? And how can you say universally one is worse than the other, when the effects on individuals will vary.

One thing is clear. If people can distinguish that porn is just entertainment and not meant as a suggestion for what they should do, the same could be same of games. People can distinguish between reality and fantasy. Most, anyway.

"[Studies have] found that violent video games are much bigger a negative influence on kids," said Jeremy? [citation needed]

Clearly parents actually being engaged with their sprogs, and aware of what they get up to on the net is obviously far more important than voting for which particular digital art form is most harmful.

I should also mention that, if they are kids, they'll probably look for porn of people their age. Which, in fact, would probably be illegal. Since YOU are paying for the internet service, that means the cops come for YOU, not your kid. Now daddy gets to spend a few years in jail for little jimmy beatin' it to illegal porn. Hurray! Better than Left 4 Dead any day!

LOL WAT?

Having first hand experience (having spent 4 years as an internet-dwelling minor), youths don't go looking for porn 'their own age' since any ol porn will do nicely, and it's almost always better than the illegal stuff. If kids these days are specifically hunting for underage stuff, we have a real problem.

Honestly, porn is educational. It answers questions parents don't or wont discuss. We can also thank the whore houses of the late 1800's to the 1940's. Which the hoe's would stand out front of the brothel advertising all day long, kids around or not. Which sparked the invent of the nudiy magazine. I am for both games and porn, hell i remember being 11yo and wanting to play Leisure Suit Larry just because it had better graphics and interactive game play...My hat goes off to porn for bring us the following....VHS over Beta (not happy about that), more in-depth Video Games, DVD's, Blu-Ray over HD-DVD, and internet porn.
