s2 calls and text but has no internet

I have been desperately trying to hook up my samsung s2 in my area. I believe we only run off of verizon towers for sure and sprint (??) I believe is the other one. When i hook this straight talk phone up it makes and recieves calls/ texts but there is no internet service. Those little arrows on the top wont come on. Is there a reason or way to fix this. I bought the phone off walmart.com and im wondering if it has something to do with my service area.
