Sager or Alienware???

Hi everyone!
I am in the process of buying a new gaming laptop and am unsure of wether to choose a sager or Alienware. Here are the important differences that are making me unsure:
(WARNING: There is A LOT to consider so be READY!)
Alinware M14x vs. Sager NP9150

Screen: Alienware has a 1600x900 14 inch screen,
Sager has a 1920x1080 15.6 inch screen with 95% NTSC color Gamut.

Graphics: Alienware has a 2gb Nvidia GT 650m
Sager has a 4gb Nvidia GTX 675MX

Hard drive: Alienware has a 256gb SSD,
Sager has a 750gb 7200 RPM HDD
(Note: I am planning on installing an ssd into the Sager in the future if I purchase it)

CPU/RAM: Alienware AND the Sager both have an Intel i7 3740QM 2.7ghz CPU, but the Alienware has 16gb of ram while the Sager has only 8gb. (Note: Like the hard drive however, I would at some point expand the sager to 16gb.)

Optical Drive: Alienware has a slot loading Blu ray reader, Sager has a regular super drive.

Miscellaneous: Alienware comes with 1 year accident protection, Sager has diamond thermal compound on CPU/GPU

Overall Appeal:The Alienware M14x is a BEAUTIFUL looking laptop. The lighting, structure, and design leave the somewhat bland Sager in the DUST. Also Im not very sure how thick the Sager is. Id personally like the alienware becuase it has a Uniform thickness and Im really not looking for a Brick. (If i was Id just get the M17x or the NP9170)

PRICE: Alienware- $1896
Sager:- $1921

Final Questions: The somewhat obvious choice seems to be the sager, but is it as nice as the Alienware? Will I get the same support from Sager as I will from Dell? To those who have had Sager, are they a trustworthy, quality brand of Computers?

I haven't owned a sager , but I traded a really nice custom desktop for an m17x a few years back and love it, Ive had a couple issues but dell was very quick to send a technician out to my house to fix it. That is service. like I said I don't know sager but dells xps and alienware service is beyond the norm. call center half way around the world bs.

That's why I was thinking of going with Dell. Because of their service. I'm not familiar with the Sager resellers and their service. I've read 3 bad reviews about Xiotic. They also have some good reviews.
I will be using the laptop for both work and play, I need to know the service will be top notch if anything goes wrong.
Maybe some others will chime in about their experience with reseller service.

Thanks so much for this reply. I know next to nothing about hardware or laptops for gaming/business. I've cramming the last few days to get up to speed and I've seen MSI builds but there's a lot more out there on Sager and Alienware and Asus.

One of the reasons I was leaning in the Sager direction is that it is evidently easy to upgrade. Is the same true with your MSI recommendations? I'd like to hang-on to this new computer for as many years as I can.

I wouldn't get either of those options for that price. They are both last generation processors that are slower and have worse power consumption than the current Haswell processors.

They also have graphics cards that are 2 generations old. The 800 series cards are out, there is no reason whatsoever to spend that much money and get a 600 series card.

With the brand consideration, Dells are cheaply made and will likely have issues. They rely on their customer support because they have to have it with their level of unreliability. They are also way overpriced.

You could get significantly better performance out of the MSI GT60 Dominator with:

a current gen Haswell core i7-4700MQ Quad-core processor
The NEW Nvidia GTX 870M graphics card
1TB HDD
8GB RAM
15.6" 1920x1080 display
Steelseries backlit keyboard
Killer Doubleshot Networking
Dynaudio premium sound with Subwoofer

MSI is also a more dependable brand than Sager and Alienware.

For a fraction of the price, this laptop would totally destroy both of those ones. If you want one with an SSD and higher performance you can even get an upgraded MSI GT60 Dominator with:

i7-4800MQ (upgraded processor)
Nvidia GTX 870M
128GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD + 1TB 7200RPM HDD
16GB RAM
and all of the other features that the other one had.

Thanks much for all your help. I've wanted to get into hardware for a number of years. If I buy a laptop, I'll definitely go with the MSI but now I'm thinking maybe I'll buy a cheaper work laptop (have to have laptop for work) and build a gaming desktop. It might cost me more to go that route but I'll learn a lot and be able to upgrade the desktop in years to come. I appreciate your time.

It's easy to upgrade the hard drives and RAM in it, yes. Alienware is a significantly lower quality brand with a higher price tag. There are Sagers that are solid too, but their build quality is sub-par compared to MSI.

Keep in mind, laptops aren't something you really upgrade down the line. I believe you can actually upgrade the GPU in the MSI since it's in an MXM slot, but getting to it and making sure you have the voltage to support a new card years later would be questionable.

Laptops are something you invest in and they are what they are. It never hurts to add an SSD or more RAM, though. The second GT60 I linked has done all of that already, though.

Would the Lenovo and/or Aspira be better than a Dell Inspiron? I am not familiar with either of those but both of those links are in my prices range Would I be able to WOW PVE with that graphics card?

No problem at all!

If you want a good multi-use laptop to get around with that isn't designed for gaming you can get the Lenovo U430 for relatively cheap, and it is a really nice all purpose laptop. It doesn't have dedicated graphics, but the Intel HD 4400 on the processor is powerful enough for light gaming, and it only weighs 4.2lbs and gets up to 7.5 hours of battery life.

Alternatively, if you want a long battery life, highly mobile solution that can actually play games, you can get the Acer Aspire V7-482PG. It does have a dedicated Nvidia GT 750M and gets up to 8 hours of battery life. It isn't as high quality of build as the Lenovo, but it has a 1080p display and is really powerful for the price. It's also on sale right now.

The Acer is a little more than what I wanted to spend. Out the door it's $958 and I was hoping to stay around the $700 range which is where the Lenovo is. I only PVE in WOW will I be able to do that with the Lenovo you linked.

Stay away from Dell if you can. if you want to play WoW, you definitely want to go with the Acer I linked. It's on sale right now, so I'd snatch it up while you still can.

The GT 750M won't have a problem playing WoW on medium to high settings even in a raid environment. The Acer Aspire V7-482PG also has the highest quality display you will find in any laptop below $900.

On low setting you can play wow on a core2 due with the integrated HD graphics. I did for a few years before upgrading to my Sager.

Just found this Lenovo for $719 and, in my novice mind, seems much more powerful.
But maybe it has problems?
