Sales Tax - Purchasing Online

I live in California and sales tax here is charged at 7.5%.

I am wanting to purchase a mac book pro from https://www.powermax.com/productcategory/used-macs-macbook-pro
which is based in Oregon which attracks 0% sales tax. Therefore, if I purchase online from them, am I required to pay sales tax ?

Most states policy is that you pay sales tax on internet purchases. But they have no way to enforce, or even know that tax should be paid.

If the vendor doesn't tax you, then it's up to you to be honest w/ Uncle Sam when you do your taxes and pay the taxes then. Same deal with buying stuff off Amazon or any other website.

Right before you check out, they should tell you EXACTLY what your final$ is, with tax and S&H. They are not selling to the Middle East or anything, this is Silicon Valley U.S.A. if they can't be up front about it, move on.

The fact that they are based in OR doesn't matter. It just says you don't get taxed if you are picking it up at their store front in OR, if they have one. If they have a warehouse, a distribution center blah-blah in Cal then they will tax you. However which way, I still refer to you to paragraph 1.
