Samsung LN46B500P3F only shows half of the picture

I have a Samsung LN46500P3F that only shows the left half of the picture. The right half has 2/3 black and 1/3 gray vertical bars.

How long has it been this way? And did something obvious cause it? What about something less obvious?

I tried googling the TV model and only got this forum thread. Maybe you got the numbers wrong? How old is the TV?
