Samsung sgh-a777 sms backup

Does the Samsung SGH-A777 save deleted sms messages to the phone or to the sim card? Also, when I try to "save message to sim" it says sim is full which I don't understand because I have just gotten the phone a few days ago and have not put in any contacts yet... AND it still lets me send and receive texts messages. Help

It saves the first 20 messages to the SIM card. The rest is saved to the phone. I'm guessing you are unable to save another message to the SIM because the 20 slots have already been taken up. There should be a small SIM card icon next to messages that are stored on it. You can try deleting one of those messages or moving it to the phone so that you can save that one particular message to your SIM card.
