Samsung to speaker's

I have a Samsung smart tv and I have older speaker, the ones with black and red clamps for speaker wires..Is it possible to hook them up to my tv?

Yes, but not directly. You'll need some sort of amplifier or head unit between the speakers and the TV.

if your TV can be set to output in stereo via the optical audio output. If not then you will need a av receiver which can accept a 5.1 channel digital input. Could be a used one since it doesn't need HDMI for your application.
