How can we connect wireless headphone so that my hard-of-hearing husband can hear the t.v. while the t.v. speakers operate simultaneously?

I have the exact same problem. Purchased Bluetooth headphones only to discover that my Samsung smart tv is not Bluetooth compatible. Hope someone can help!!
