[citation][nom]stratplaya[/nom]Something similar happened to a chief engineer from Toyota a couple of years ago. He was in charge of the hybrid version of the Camry and was under immense pressure to get it finished. He ended up either having a heart attack or committing suicide, I can't recall.Being world leaders in technology fields comes with a price.[/citation]

This is what really happened:

CEO: "Hey, I know you want to make awesome electric cars that are fun to drive and have a range of over 9000 miles, but what we really want you to do is take our most boring, erm, car, and make it even worse".

Engineer: After trying to contemplate what was asked of him (a CAMRY?!?! HYBRID?!?!?), the engineer was unable to understand the reasoning behind the CEO's decision. "A hybrid Camry will be going backwards; an engineering disaster!", he cried, but alas, the CEO's ears were only attuned to the voices of the accountants and shareholders.
After much consideration, the engineer decided to create his own car. "I will create an AE86 successor. It shall be fun to drive, and people will like it!", he proclaimed. However, the winds of ill fortune blew upon him, for his team did not work well and his designs were not cost effective.
The engineer comitted suicide after being caught trying to smuggle $24million worth of cocaine in a deal that would see his company afloat, and his dreams of an AE86 successor realised.

Yes it's! American society told me so!

Those parts of the world where this stuff has occured alot in recent years is well know for "suicide with a note" and never a witness to be found zone.

Aka David Carradine anyone ?

Most never see how many times this actually occurs, as lower profile persons never make news, they get barried in the corrupt police systems there.

Stress at work or family issue ( leave self incriminating note - how nice? and convienent to shift blame off the actual person(s) doing it ), then jump off building with zero witnesses.

Like the old days of concrete shoes and boats. Modern days are leave a nice self incriminating note, and no witnesses.

[citation][nom]joebob2000[/nom]This is pedantic and probably tasteless, but the headline is wrong."Samsung VP Commits Suicide, Blames Work"He did *not* commit suicide and then blame work. Any blame leveled by him happened before he died, unless he is now haunting the Samsung silicon foundry and is available for comment."Samsung VP Commits Suicide; Note Left Blames Work"[/citation]
dood, it's just a short way of describing the story...WTF is it with people and the author criticisms?

Just goes to show how screwed up peoples priorities in life are. If, he was that stressed out he should have taken a different position, start working part-time or take an extended leave. He was a VP and I'm sure his net worth would have prevented him from being a homeless man even if he did quit all together.

The only "stressed out" people I feel sorry for are those that suffer from genuine mental ailments and clinical depression. When you interact with such people then your own worldy problems, provided your not "poor" (i.e. you have insufficient food, and water, lack shelter and you are faced with constant real danger), seem utterly insignificant.

Unfortunately, too many people make their job, accomplishments, ego and work their raison d'etre. If any of these don't meet their own expectations or is in danger of being diminished then they feel worthless and don't wan't to live... Pathetic!
