Screen damaged

any ideas what could have caused this as my sister says the baby spilt oat milk on the laptop but i think it has been dropped, if it is just oat milk will it dry out or will the screen need to be replaced

Wait and see if it works after a while. After any spil you don't want to turn on a computer for a day or two till you are sure everything is dry again.

Does not look like this will fix itself though, need a new screen.

Put a fan on it and leave it off a day or two to see if it clears things up, but my first impression is that you are right in that it was dropped.

Well even spilling water on a LCD screen can cause the screen to display discoloration (aka water damage).

Oat Milk will be a little worse because when it dries out it will leave a residue inside the screen.
